How does My Life Expedition work?
As I have begun to talk about the My Life Expedition (MLE) groups, people are starting to ask how they work.
MLE groups consist of 2-3 people each taking a personal journey that will walk them through their life story. This is a deeply personal journey done while holding tightly to God’s hand asking Him to give you His perspective on your life.
The Expedition consists of a “base camp” (which includes the creation of a complete life map) and 4 major “treks.” Two treks offer a visual option for those who are artistic or visual processors.
You will need to plan on spending about 45 min. per day 4-5 days a week on the treks. You will also attend a listening group 1x per week to verbally process what God is revealing to you. You DO NOT have to share anything that you do not want to in your group. Listening groups are different from other small groups, but I’ll post more about that in another blog.
What sorts of things will you do? With God’s help, you will:
1) Reflect on how God uniquely made you. This may help you solidify your identity, chip away at the false-self, and clarify your calling.
2) Clear your life path of the boulders and lies that may have kept you off course or sidelined in the past.
3) Discover possible vocations or simply pick up an old (or start a new) life-giving practice such as a ministry or hobby.
4) Create a mission statement and craft a rule of life to help you set a course for the next leg of your life journey.
Along with the weekly treks, we will read David Benner’s The Gift of Being Yourself. Lastly, I will give an opportunity for each participant to have 1 personal spiritual direction appointment if they so choose.
If you are interested in this deeply reflective work with God, please let me know so that I can put your name on the list for the next Information group which will take place in January 2024.
